Creamy Sausage Pasta

A delicious and creamy pasta dish with sausage, marinara sauce, and Parmesan cheese.
In a large skillet, cook the sausage links over medium heat until 3/4 of the way cooked. Add 2/3 TBSP of water to the pan with a lid to help cook. Remove from skillet and slice the sausage when done.
While the sausage is cooking, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions and add salt to taste.
Add the sliced sausage back to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Add pepper flakes.
In a pan on low heat, melt butter and add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and let it reduce for 2-3 minutes, then add the tomato sauce. Stir to combine.
Add black pepper, red pepper flakes, and parsley. Stir well and let the sauce reduce until it thickens. About 4-5 minutes.
When the sauce is thickened up, add in the parmesan cheese and whisk until fully combined and thickened.
Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
Add the sausage to the pan if desired and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley.
